Where Did the Year Go?

Wednesday, December 31, 2014
In regards to the title of the post, any help with finding the missing days of 2014 would be much appreciated. This year went way too fast. Granted, I say that every year, but it seems to be true.

Despite the fact that the year seemed to zip by, I'm amazed at how many things have happened. I started writing. I finished my first novel. I did NaNoWriMo. I started a blog. I had wonderful times with family and friends.  I met some absolutely amazing writing buddies over Go Teen Writers, and I had a wonderful cabin in Camp NaNoWriMo.

I am so blessed for all the opportunities that I had. Thank you for reading, fellow writers!

A Post of Randomness

Tuesday, December 16, 2014

I now present to you, Katie Grace's official post of randomness, updates, and other little things that are happening in her life around the Christmas season.

Enjoy.

1. NaNoWriMo

I am finally starting to recover after that crazy month.
On the first of the month, I began to rewrite my novel, but the automatic black text looked much to boring for an exciting month as November was. So each day I did a different color/shade, and this was the result:

(The picture will probably be a bit small, so click on it to see an enlarged version)

It was pretty cool to see the colors progress throughout the month. :)

2. Editing

Isn't editing fun? (sarcasm)
Now that I've finished rewriting my novel, (ahem, most of it. I have a thousand or so words to write, but I'll be able to finish that up pretty quickly) I'm faced with the daunting task of editing. I edited about two chapters these last couple weeks, but then my computer froze up and I lost my work... So now I keep opening up my document, stare at the unedited pages, sigh, and close it. I'm working on some motivation to keep me working on it for January, so hopefully that will help. :)

3. Planning

Posting might be a little sparse this December, but in this busy month I'm putting together a plan for upcoming posts in the new year. Hopefully that'll help prevent disappearances. :)
I've discovered that without a plan, things don't happen by themselves. If I don't plan out a series of blog posts a month ahead, they most likely won't happen. My mom bought me a small calendar where I can list posts I want to write for each month so I can write them ahead of time and keep on track. :)

(Isn't that snowman ornament darling? :)
4. Christmas Festivities

There's been a lot of gift-brainstorming, decorating, Christmas music, and deliveries arriving at the door, only to be whisked away. I love the feel of the Christmas season, but every year I need to step back and remind myself what Christmas is truly about. After all, that is why we celebrate it in the first place.
I also added some snow to my blog header to make it more Christmassy. ;)

I'm also planning to post a Christmas blog tag in the next couple of days here. :)

5. Reading

I actually haven't been reading very much lately... But that is about to change. I put twelve books on hold at the library a couple days ago, and own another three books that I want to read. It's going to be the ultimate reading time this Christmas break. :)

What are you planning on reading this Christmas season?
