If you follow this blog... (which you probably are, seeing that you are reading this. If you aren't, join in the fun! Books and writing people, you'll expect lots of that from this blog.)
... Anyways. I got distracted. (Expect randomness, too, in the best of ways, I promise.)
Okay. *cough* If you follow this blog, you probably have heard me rave about the Ilyon Chronicles, a fantasy series that involves lots and lots of epicness.
A mere two days ago, Jaye released a prequel novella on Jace's backstory (the poor, tortured gladiator). I've read it, and let me tell you, it's intense. It's heartbreaking, sad, and at times you don't see how there could be any hope in Jace's life.
But in the end, Jaye does a wonderful job of letting hope reign in his life, and set it up perfectly for Resistance. I do recommend reading Half-Blood after Resistance, however.
Read on for an interview and an EPIC giveaway.

What does a typical writing day look like? Do you have a schedule?
I confess, I’m bad with schedules. I don’t have a set schedule for writing. I do like to write in the morning, though, and try to get to it shortly after breakfast. It always depends on what else I have on my to-do list. Writing is only a fraction of what I need to do. I’m almost always in the middle of editing, and I also have my jewelry shop to keep running, which takes much more time than I ever expected. So my days are pretty full.
If you could transport yourself to ANY fictional world, where would you go? Anything specific you'd like to do in that world?
Can I pick Ilyon? :D Because I’d love to visit and crete city and go dragon riding with Talas. I’d also love to go horseback riding through Landale with Jace and Kyrin. If not Ilyon, then I’d probably pick . . . Middle-earth if I got to hang out with Aragorn in Rivendell. :)
Favorite food?
Cheese. :)
Favorite Movie?
Lord of the Rings!
Favorite Song?
Oh . . . that’s super tough. How about favorite song from each of my favorite artists (though that’s just as tough)? :D

The
gasps and murmuring grew. Though some were hardly more than whispers, clear
words reached Jace’s ears—dangerous, monster, animal, soulless. He tried to
back away from their accusing eyes, but the collar pulled hard against his
throat and held him in place.
For all his years as a slave, Jace
has known nothing but the hatred people hold for his mixed blood—one half
human, the other half the blood of a race considered monsters. Always, he is
the outsider and quickly learns it is better to keep to himself. But, when his
volatile ryrik blood leads him to do the unthinkable, he is thrown into a world
of violence and bloodshed.
Forced to become a gladiator, Jace
finds more and more of his heart dying as his master works to break down his
will not to become the monster everyone believes he is. When a stranger
interferes with his master’s harsh punishment, Jace’s world is upended yet
again. But with it comes the possibility of hope that has long since died.
Could the man possibly hold the key to escaping the hopeless darkness that is
Jace’s life? Is there such a thing as life beyond the cruelty of slavery?
See where Jace’s story all began . .

Please tell me you're excited for this book as I am. I'm flipping out with excitement. :D
Two questions:
- Favorite food?
- Favorite movie?
I can't wait to read this! It shall probably reduce me to a sobbing mess, but still. :D
ReplyDeleteThis was a really fun interview! I LOVE all those songs! Also, I'm like you when it comes to a writing schedule, Jaye. I try to get myself into one, but it never lasts for long.
It reduces all of us to a sobbing mess. :p
DeleteI'm horrible at writing schedules, too. You and Jaye are not alone. xD And I agree on all the song choices! She has a good taste in music. ;)
Oh my goodness, that feather bookmark! Just beautiful! :D
ReplyDeleteI've not heard of the Ilyon books before, but they sound like great fun, and it looks like I just might have to add them to my (endless and continually growing) TBR list. Also, as for your end questions: "Favorite food?" There's too many! lol. "Favorite movie?" I'm currently on an Avengers kick. ^^
You've got a great little blog here, Katie! Thanks to ghost ryter, I've gotten the pleasure to discover it.
All the best to you!
Eve
Edge of Night
I know... I love bookmarks SO much! It's so, so pretty...
DeleteDefinitely add them to your TBR list! (Haha, I know, my TBR list is GIANT.) They are completely epic; I read each of the books in one day. xD
Ooh, the Avengers is a pretty good movie. I haven't seen the second one. Did you like it?
Aw, thank you! That means a lot to me. It always makes me happy that people enjoying reading what I write. :)
All the best to you, too, Eve!
Bookmarks are great. You can't have too many! I recently bought a 3D coffee bookmark lol. Love it.
DeleteYes! I enjoyed the second one a lot. More than the first one, I think. :)
3D coffee bookmark? That sounds awesome. xD
DeleteGood to hear! I've heard mixed opinions about it. I'm looking forward to when it comes out on DVD so I can see it. :D I'll let you know what I think!
I can't wait to read these books! (Thanks to Katie's ravings, hehe.) I really enjoy gladiator stories and Christian fantasy, oh and CHEESE! :P
ReplyDelete(Yes, you must read them. *raves* xD)
DeleteThe best thing is when you eat cheese while you read this books. Then you get the whole experience, hehe. ::)
Thank you so much for interviewing me and being part of the tour, Katie! :D
ReplyDeleteYou're so welcome! Thanks for letting me be a part despite my forgetfulness. You're awesome. :D
DeleteI'm so excited for this book! I know it will make me cry, though... Poor Jace.
ReplyDeleteFavorite food... Um... Do cookies count? If so, Half-blood cookies. (Named in honor of Jace, by the way.)
Favorite movie... I have absolutely no idea. :-P
*hands over tissues* *whispers* You'll need them.
DeleteCookies definitely count. Pizza has to be my favorite food, but cookies are a close second. (And Athelas told me about the Half-blood cookies. I need her to send me the recipe so I can try them. *nods*)
I struggle with choosing my favorite movie, too. xD
I'm definitely excited for Half Blood, though I still need to read TKS.
ReplyDeleteFavorite food: Anything my mom makes, really.
Favorite movie: LOTR.
BTW, I tagged you with the Liebster Award. If you don't feel like doing it, or you're too busy, that's fine, but if you don't mind, I'd love to read your answers. :) https://tpssarahlightshadows.wordpress.com/2015/07/18/liebster-award-3/
Ooh, read TKS! You'll love it. :D
DeleteI saw that! Thanks so much for tagging me. :D I just did the Liebster Award a short while ago so probably won't end up doing it... But I'll keep it in mind in case I do another one in a few months. :)
