The Giant Tag Post

Saturday, March 26, 2016
So I've been tagged for quite a few of these "Liebster Awards" and such, and it's about time I finally write up my giant tag post that I've been promising. *nod*

(Maybe sometime I'll do a tag or a Q&A in a vlog type thing? I'm not sure how good I'd be talking in front of a camera. I'd probably ramble a lot or just sit in silence and let awkward crickets chirp, but let me know if that's something you'd ever be interested in. xD I could do it for my blogoversary or something. WE'LL SEE.)

Because most of the tags have you list 11 random facts, I'll just list a random fact after each question to make it simple. ;)

Lastly, since I was tagged for so many different posts, I decided not to answer all the questions in each tag and just take 2-3 of my favorite ones. Thank you, Grace, Paige, Jessica, Hosanna, Rachael, and Emily for the questions and tag!

biggest pet peeve

BIGGEST pet peeve? I'm not sure if I could choose my biggest one. I have a bunch of little(ish) ones, so I'll just make a short list:

- sharing forks/straws/anything like that just... EW.
- people interrupting movies. // My sister has about a bazillion questions with each movie we watch, so it's kind of become a running joke. And an annoyance. :P Love youuuu. ;)
- chapped lips and dry skin. // I use chapstick and lotion constantly throughout the day. Where I live it's very cold right now, so my skin gets dry easily. :P

random fact: my real name is actually Katelyn, but everyone calls me Katie.
what is one thing that can make your day instantly better?

OOH, another question I can make a list out of.

// smiles.
// music.
// little surprises.
// kind words.
// something to look forward to.

fun fact: I got some A M A Z I N G socks for my birthday. Pizza socks. I'll share a picture in my monthly highlights post on the 31st. :D
how many siblings do you have?

Just one! Her name's Laura and she's three years younger than me.
JUST LOOK AT HER SQUISHY LITTLE CUTE FACE. (this was wayyy back in time.)

Daww, we're so much older, now. :P

random fact: I'm watching Captain America: the Winter Soldier while writing this. Buckyyyyy.
what do you think you'll be doing five years from now?

HAHAHAHAHA.
HA.
Heh.
*sweats nervously*
*has a major life crisis*

The future is a scary place. o.O
Okay, so five years from now I'll be twenty-one. By then I could have written ten books, read nearly 1,000... probably have a job. Eat pizza 500 times. Write 400 blog posts. The usual. ;)

random fact: my feet are very cold right now. *shivers*
favorite flower?

DAISIES! Daisies are so lovely and happy. <3

random fact: I took a typing test and I can type around 110 wpm. But that's just copying text. I can't think that fast. xD
are you more the cook or eater in your home?

HA. Definitely the eater. Me in the kitchen = CATASTROPHE.

random fact: someday I'm going to get a hedgehog because they're adorable and it can be my writing buddy. xD
what is something that is outside your comfort zone, but you want to do it?

*cough* Giving my book to beta readers. (<-- sign up there if you haven't already ;) *cough* I'm super honored and happy by how many of you actually are signing up, but it's really scary. REALLY SCARY. *breathes into a paper bag so I don't pass out*

random fact: I've been in the mood for a contemporary lately. Any (fairly clean) contemporaries you recommend?
how often do you listen to music?

Probably... around nine hours a day? :P I start listening to music while I do school, and end when I go to bed. There are a few breaks in there but I tend to play music with everything I do. Reading, writing, blogging, editing, school, etc, etc...

random fact: aside from blue, I really like the color gray. And mustard yellow.
have you ever done something others deemed crazy?

...wrote a novel?
...edited a novel?
...asked people to read my novel?
...have a good majority of my friends from online? xD

random fact: it's taken me twenty minutes to think of these facts, because I'm just that bad at it. :P
last book I read?

The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine. It was... okay? The cover is gorgeous, but I found myself bored most of the time, and the one character I "kind of" liked died pretty soon on in the book. So, yeah. 3/5 stars, but more like 2 1/2 out of 5.

random fact: I don't like... swimming? I can swim, but I prefer the dry land. :P
favorite Bible verse?

Oooohhhhhh, this is SUCH a hard question. I don't... know? When I was younger my favorite Bible verse used to be Proverbs 16:24... "Pleasant words are a honeycomb. Sweet to the soul and healing to the bones."

I still like that verse, but I'm not sure if it's my favorite.
two minutes later while writing this...
So I finished reading through Proverbs chapter 16 and I really like verse nine: "In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps." As you can see with my answer a few questions above... I don't know what the future holds, and sometimes that's really scary? But it's comforting to know that God has a plan in place -- whether it's similar or not to mine. ;)

random fact: MY BOOKSHELF IS FULL. It just filled this month so now I have to get a new one. Eeep. :3
last song I listened to?

Goner by Twenty One Pilots.
Smoke and Mirrors by Imagine Dragons.
This is Gospel by Panic! at the Disco.
Taxi Cab by Twenty One Pilots.

There. The last four songs I listened to. :P (And I really like this question. :D)

random fact: and now I'm watching the Lego Movie. Yay for movie nights!
(and I'm also not ashamed of my extreme love for this movie. xD)
social media accounts?

Ahh, yes. Where I waste ALL OF MY TIME. (and make new friends, so that's cool)

goodreads // where I flail about books and find new ones to read.
twitter // the place where I share my thoughts nearly every day with funny quotes or writing happenings.
facebook // basically how I connect with all of my lovely writer friends.
pinterest // STORY INSPIRATION. Though, I've become less addicted to it as of lately?
instagram // where I very rarely take pictures (using my dad's phone, oops) of book and/or pretty things.

random fact: OH HAVE YOU SEEN THE NEW LEGO BATMAN MOVIE TRAILER? I'm soooo excited for it. xD
the next book I want to read?
OOOH.

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. (recommended by Anna)
Unwind by Neal Shusterman. (This book has been repeatedly shoved in my face by Anna and Aimee)
Five Enchanted Roses by an assortment of authors. (because it's about time I've read this)
Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. (also an Aimee recommended book. Mostly because she showed me the lovely musical.)

// katie grace

(and now some random questions for you cause that's fun)
What was the last song you listened to?
What are some of your pet peeves?
And what's the next book on your TBR(or several books :P)?

  1. I have so many books on my TBR pile, I am about to start Songkeeper and after that finish A branch of Silver a Branch of Gold and then I am reading The Death Cure then probably Avalon by Stephen Lawhead...... at the moment anyway, subject to drastic changes at a moments notice.

    1. Ooh, a bunch of people from Goodreads are starting Songkeeper. And how do you like A Branch of Silver, A Branch of Gold so far? I didn't love it... but hopefully my opinion is unpopular. :P

    2. I am liking A Branch of Silver, A Branch of Gold but not as much as some of her other books. I can't quite decide.

  2. Ooooof. So many books to read ... I've had The Westing Game for forEVER and I really should get a move on and read it. The Darkest Minds is interesting. I personally wasn't a huge fan and won't be reading the sequel, but I hope you like it!
Pet peeve: when people point out that my face is red. My face is often red. It's because of my hotness. I am aware of it. You don't have to point it out. Yeesh, people. *flips hair* I know I'm fabulous. Deal with it. XP

    2. OOOOH I read that book... a couple years ago? I think I remember liking it. xD

I TOTALLY GET YOU, HANNAH. My face gets red when I'm embarrassed or ESPECIALLY after I exercise. :P Sigh, it must be something both of us have as sisters. ;)

  3. Last song I listened to was actually 'Superheroes' (by The Script), I really like that one. Pet Peeves? Well, I get quite annoyed when I see things about 'Australian accents' on the internet that get the facts HORRIBLY WRONG. Aussies don't pronounce words like that, that the New Zealanders! Yeah...it annoys me. ;)
Books I want to read?! Gee, that might be too hard a question! I really should finish 'Gates of Rome' by Alex Scarrow, I just keep getting distracted by other cooler books. And then I want to read Reckless (Cornelia Funke), and also the Pendragon Cycle (Stephen R Lawhead)...I'll just stop there for now before I list my whole months-worth of books. :D

    1. Hmmm, I haven't heard of that song. I'll have to listen to it.
Oh, wow. Good luck with all those books! I haven't read any of them, but I've headr of the Pendragon Cycle.

  4. Do You Remember by Jarryd James, but really it was Latch by Simply Three, so both. xD

My biggest pet peeves are books that go too fast, slow coffee drinkers, and crooked stuff, like dominos. Nope, not OCD, just pet peevish.

I need to finish By Darkness Hid, it's interesting but slow, a book I won, and two more books I won which are on their way to me!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Ahhh, I would be a pet peeve, then. I drink coffee rather slowly. (mostly because I RARELY drink coffee. xD)

Ooh, awesome! I haven't read By Darkness Hid yet, but it's on my TBR list. :D

    2. I drink wayyyyy too much, so yeah. xD It's a pet peeve because I finish mine, then I have to watch them drink their coffee suppper slowly.

  5. I love your answers to these questions. :D
    -Last song: How Love Wins
-Pet peeves: A big one is when people ask me questions that I think they should already know the answer to. And also when I'm trying to think or pray and someone interrupts my train of thought.
-TBR: Songkeeper, King's Folly, Witches Abroad, Mistborn: Secret History, Scholar's Plot, and Lady's Pursuit.

    1. Ahh, yes. I agree with the question pet peeve. :P

Oooh, another Songkeeper answer. I didn't sign up to be on the advanced reading list... I'll probably regret that, but I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's reviews. :D

      Delete
  6. Last songs: Lord I Need You by Matt Maher, and God's not Dead.
Pet peeve: When I get accused of something I didn't do, I literally feel like I'm gonna explode and scream, "I didn't do it"!
TBR: Song of the Desert by Katie
And that's pretty much all I'm thinking of reading. Usually I find a book and then decide to read it.

Okay, so I hope you liked! I'm thinking of doing a really quick Easter post today, but I don't know yet.

  9. Ahh, this was so fun! Random facts are awesome. Maybe because we're all nosy people? Just joking. Maybe. XD

Chapstick and lotion are lifesavers this time of year! And Buckyyyy... D': I was listening to the Winter Soldier soundtrack the other day, and it mangled my feels all over again.

You and Laura are so cute! You remind me of my sisters, who are just about the same ages as you two. ^_^

The last song I listened to was "Voyage" by Amanda Cook (a really good song for thinking about scary future things, IMO). A pet peeve of mine is overuse of he saw/heard/felt/knew in books. Gah. It ruins intimate POV! Oh, and you asked for contemporary recommendations? I don't know if you want contemporary ROMANCE, exactly, but the Paige Alder trilogy by Erynn Mangum is adorable and hilarious, and then you turn a page and it surprises you with deep stuff about life and God.

Oh, yes. I'M SO EXCITED. It's so silly but wonderful and ahhh. <3

  10. Katie, I am so glad you wrote that post...because it shows that you are so human like the rest of us! ;) (like we know that...but it's good to be reminded that we aren't the only un-perfect ones in this world) ;) Though the future can be scary, God's holding us in His hands! That's what I am learning right now. =)

I love your randomness...I'm not random at all! =) But really, DO NOT WORRY ABOUT YOUR NOVEL IN OUR HANDS!!!!!!!! I am SO tickled that you are going to let ME read it! ME? Katie Grace is letting ME read HER book? **squeals** Thank you so much! **giant hug**

  11. This was awesome to read. You and your sister are gorgeous!

Last song I listened to: Probably Loyal by Lauren Daigle. I loveeee this song so much! <3
Pet peeve: Like you, I really hate it when people talk during movies. We watched the Battle of the Five Armies last night and I have a bunch of younger siblings. :)
TBR: My entire TBR cannot fit into this comment. xD I am NOT a fast reader. Plus, I have A LOT of reading for school and by the time I'm done, I just want to do something other then stare at a page or a screen. :P I LOVE BOOKS (good ones anyway) but it takes me so long to get through one, even if I absolutely love it. :)

Last song I listened to? Supposed To Be by Icon For Hire. It was released yesterday and I've listened to it non stop on repeat since. *hugs song*

Pet peeves? Hah, my siblings. I have 6 of them, and they all have at least one annoying thing they do that just drives me insane. Even the baby, who grinds her teeth. Agghhh that drives me nuts xD

TBR? I don't even know. I just kind of yank one off the shelf? Probably Bruiser by Neal Shusterman, since I've had that the longest.

  14. KATIE YOU DON'T LIKE SWIMMING?!?!?! AHHHH!!!! WHAT IS THERE NOT TO LIKE?!?!?

    *clears throat*

Pardon me. My house is 15 feet off the most bestiest lake in the world, so I'm a bit passionate about swimming.

Okay, and for the last song I listened to...whatever was playing when I woke up this morning. I don't remember what it was.

Pet peves. Hmmm. Little boys touching food with dirty hands (I have 5 brothers), a messy bedroom, dirty dishes piled in the sink... I just realized all of those have to do with dirt. :)

I didn't get a chance to comment on your post last week, but I wanted to wish you a very happy 16th birthday and congrats on sending your baby to betas! :) How exciting!

Th Lego Movie is awesome... as is everything XD. My family can probably quote the whole thing.
The next book I'm going to read is probably The End of the Spear... But we'll see if I don't get distracted by some other book:)

Yes, Owl City is amazing! I think Adam Young came out with two instrumental albums not too long ago. All of Owl City's songs have lyrics, but most of Adam Young's other music projects are just instrumental:)

  21. You did the tag! :D It's great to read your answers. :) Daisies are my favourite flower too - they're just fresh and bright and simple. And, they come in all different sizes and colours...

One of my pet peeves is when people don't use correct grammar in speaking. It annoys me every single time, and I automatically correct them.

I'm not sure what I'm going to read next, but I do know I'd better read something, because my to-be-read pile just keeps growing... (Our local op shop had a sale on the other day - five books for two dollars. So that might explain the situation a little! ;)

Five books for two dollars?! Um, that's awesome.

  22. I totally agree with your answer for 'Have you done something others deemed crazy'! And maybe I'd have to add 'Line up at 3:30 am to get books signed by Sarah J. Maas' :D

THE DARKEST MINDS!! I've been wanting to read it (after my obsession on getting Illuminae, TDM is what I NEEEEEED next) for a while, but I don't buy hardcovers often and the only copies they have in the bookstore are hardcovers.

Last song I listened to--that would be Mine by Phoebe Ryan. Pet peeves--it drives me crazy when I'm watching movies/TV shows that don't have a subtitle feature because I NEED subtitles when I watch TV. Books on my TBR--I have The Improbable Theory of Ana and Zak on my shelf which I'll read... Soon.

  25. you and your sister are so pretty. And I can definitly, even if I didn't know that you were, that you are sisters. My sisters and I are the same way. My older sister's best friends have even mistook me for her before. They came over for winter formal and my sister was downstairs with the other girls getting ready. I went to answer the door and they were like, Aren't you a little underdressed OS/n? I shook my head, "I'm Emily, OS/N is downstairs with the girls." These were both guys so I can sorta understand. But one of them did it again the other day. I just laughed. Although they believe this my best friend keeps telling me that Older sis and I look nothing alike. HE was my kindergaten crush, so its kinda wierd, but you know. We're the best friends. I have some major pet peeves. They are horrid. One of the worst is having to listen to people breathe. Its not as bad as it sounds I swear. I have to turn on music whenever I'm doing homework so that it doesn't distract or infuriate me. The song I am listening to right this very minute is called Listen to Your heart by Roxette. Its in a youtube video combining different clips from the different Anne of Green Gables movies. It displays how perfect Gil and Anne are together. I've been really obsessed with them for the last several. It annoys the heck out of my mom. Honestly two of my good friends played Gil about two years ago at my local theatre. One actually happens to be my off-on crush right now. books that I'll be reading soon...:1)All the lights we do not see, 2)The sword of summer, 3)The Selected Letters of Laura Ingalls Wilder, 4) finish Mockingbird, 5)The Siren, and finally 6) The Crown(which hasn't actually been released yet. I'm fifth in line though). Another one of my bad pet peeves is one of the boys in my youth group! Two more:good-byes and change(in most meanings of the word)

    1. Hehe, funny. I don't think I've ever been MISTAKEN for my sister. Though some people have called me by her name by accident.

Anne of Green Gables. <3 I've watched the first one recently... I can hardly remember if I've even watched the other ones. I feel like our family tried looking for them, but they weren't available to rent anywhere.

    2. I totally get it. I hate it when that happens. They are the best things ever. I've yet to read them though*mentally kicking myself(so much for new years resolutions)*

  27. I enjoyed reading your answers and learning more about you! I had fun with your random facts. I would answer the questions you asked, but, well, that would take me waaaaay too long as I have a ton of books on my TBR list. As in, probably at least 60. Hehehe.

    1. Oh dear. Sigh, there's ALWAYS that ever-growing TBR, isn't there? Someday I shall tackle it once and for all...
... if there weren't new books constantly coming out. :P

    2. Yes, and then with all the books my Dad has that I am starting to enjoy...add another 50 books to my TBR list! lol.

  28. O.O I think you're an imposter. Can't pizza make your day instantly better?

You and Laura definitely look similar. I look similar to pretty much all of my siblings. Or they look similar to me... xP Who knows.

My pet peeves... Well... Chatspeak... Missing capitalization...

Oh! Athelas has pizza socks, too!

I have no idea what the last song I listened to was... I haven't listened to music yet today... Because I haven't started my math. xP

On my to-be-read pile... Well, it's not a pile. I just emptied it, all except for books that I can't get... Because the library doesn't have them... Or they're not published yet. *moans about having to wait until October for A Time To Rise*

    2. HA. My sister commented on the exact same thing. "Why didn't you put pizza for making you instantly happy, Katie?" :P I though that was obvious. But, apparently I should've put it in. xD

Or you look similar to your parents? :P

CHATSPEAK. That... really bothers me. I've never quite understood the purpose. Especially "LOL." Because I'm going to bet that those who type it aren't laughing. Oh well. It looks weird anyways. xD

A TIME TO RISEEEE. Ack, I'm so excited about it. o.o SO. SO. SO. EXCITED.

    3. I KNOW! A Time to Rise... And... With the ending of A Time to Speak... *flops on the floor*

*gets up* Yes, it's obvious, but it should have been in there. You've dishonored pizza. -.-

Nah, that couldn't be it. Makes too much sense.

Yeah, exactly. "xD" is much better. *nods*

*remembers A Time to Rise* *flops again*
