Top Ten Tuesday

Tuesday, November 4, 2014
Hello everyone!

Today I am participating in a weekly blog meme held over at The Broke and the Bookish called Top Ten Tuesday. This weeks topic? List the top ten books you want to reread.

I reread books a lot. I've probably reread more old books than I've read new books. A good book deserves another read, don't you agree?

The Top Ten Books I Want to Reread:

*looks at bookshelf and Goodreads*

 1. Orphan's Song by Gillian Bronte Adams.

I just read this book a couple weeks ago, but I have recently received the actual BOOK in the mail a few days ago, so I want to have the experience of reading it in my hands.

*Random Question* Do you prefer electronic books or paperback? Why?

2. Red Rain by Aubrey Hansen:

I suppose I'm cheating a little bit, just because I've never actually read this book. About a year ago my sister and I listened to the audiobook which is free on the author's website. I remember it being really good, and I want to get around to listening to it again.

3. On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness by Andrew Peterson:

That is one long title. :)

I have read this so long ago that I have completely forgotten what it is even about. I have yet to read the last one, The Warden and the Wolf King, but as soon as I start (and finish!) rereading the series, then I'll try to get ahold of the last one somehow.

First book in the Trilogy

4. The Door Within Trilogy by Wayne Thomas Batson:

It's been awhile since I've read these books as well. (Gah! I have so many books to read !!) I own the first and the last, so I'll have to pester the library for the second. :)

5. Dragon Slippers (Dragon Slippers Series) by Jessica Day George:

(Is counting all the series as one reread considered as cheating?)

Like many of the books above, I haven't read these in a long time, and basically have forgotten the entirety of the plot. :P I remember really liking them, so that's a good sign. :)

*laughs* I was looking on Google images for the cover of the first book and searched, "Dragon Slippers." This came up:

     Literal dragon slippers.
     I want some.

6. Princess of the Midnight Ball (A Series of Fairy Tale Retellings) by Jessica Day George:

I read this before the Dragon Slipper books (above). I liked some books in the series more than others, and I think this was my favorite. I can't really remember due to time and bad memory. :P That's what rereading is for, right? It's going to be like a whole new book! :)

7. The Giver by Lois Lowry:

I read this book, watched the movie, and now want to read the book again. (For those of you that are wondering, I really enjoyed the movie and it didn't stray that far from the book. It was appropriate, too, which I most definitely appreciate) I own this book, so once I have time I can read it right away. :)

8. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien:

In anticipation of the final chapter of the movie, I want to read this before December so I can see how far they stray from the book. :/ (I'm a little disappointed that the producers didn't stick with the plot of the book very closely, but, the basic plot is the same at least, right? They still hunt down Smaug the dragon. ;)
Regardless of things the movie changes and things it does not, I am i-n-c-r-e-d-i-b-l-y excited for The Battle of the Five Armies to come out! (Though I would like the title to be, "There and Back Again." Enough with the movie, though. The point is about rereading the book. :P)
I think the last time I read this book when I was 11, so my time has come to reread the epic tale. :)

9. Um.... Etc. (End of Thinking Capacity)

Heh.
I can't think of any more, so before you say, "But you're supposed to list TEN books you want to reread," I just want to point out that if you add up (in context) all the books above, it comes out to be seventeen books.
I need help.
"Yeah, Katie. You wanna reread seventeen books, rewrite your own, and read a bunch of new books by the end of the year? Good idea! Let's forget the option of sleep."

Byeeee!

  1. You've read The Wingfeather Saga? You suddenly became 100,000x even more awesome. It is one of the best series ever. I haven't read The Warden and the Wolf King yet, but I really want to.
I should probably reread The Hobbit too; I have read it so many times in the past couple of years. It's one of those books that I can read over and over again.
The Giver was also really good (the book, I haven't seen the film), although the ending was really disappointing for me.
Err, one book I want to reread is Twelve Years a Slave. Last week I was on a road trip with my family, and we passed through Louisiana, and seeing the setting of the book made me want to read it again. =)

    1. *laughs* You are 100,000x more awesome for nominating me for a blogging buddy award! (except I'm stumped on a couple of questions. I probably shouldn't be struggling this much with it. xP) I just checked our Library, and they don't have The Wingfeather Saga. Hopefully I can borrow them from a friend who let me read them a couple years ago...
The ending was rather disappointing for me as well, but they made it better in the movie. Apparently Lois Lowry wrote a few books to continue The Giver. I keep forgetting to check those out, but I should soon.
I haven't heard of that book. *makes mental note to look it up* Ooh, a road trip? That sounds like fun!

    2. Oh dear! Yes, I know of those types of questions. I know... my library doesn't have The Wingfeather Saga either; my sister gave me the first three books for my birthday. Maybe I can get the fourth for Christmas or something.
Yes, a friend told me that there are other books, but I haven't had the time to check them out.
Just a note, keep in mind that Twelve Years a Slave is an autobiography, and it does have some violence and slightly graphic parts. But it's a good book anyhow. ;)

  3. I love the dragon slippers! I also read Dragon Slippers. I think I liked it, I don't really remember it very well. :) One book I want to reread is Resistance by Jaye. L. Knight. I have read it about 1 and 1/2 times and I still need to read it again. ;)

    1. Hehe. Yay! I'm glad you think so. You still get to surround yourself in the story, right?
Uff. School tends to take up a lot of time, just from experience. :P Hopefully you can get around to reading it soon!

      You're welcome!

    1. I do too!
The movie was awesome. It was clean and stuck very close to the book with only a few small changes. I highly recommend it.

      Thank you!

  8. I really want a pair of dragon slippers now--those are adorable! As for your question under Orphan's Song (which I haven't read, but it's definitely on my TBR list), I much prefer paperbacks. I bought a used kindle fire so that I could do beta reading, but that's mostly what I've used it for.

I suppose I should also take a moment to say that I found A Writer's Faith through the cover reveal for The King's Scrolls, and I think you have a lovely blog!

    1. I also prefer paperbacks, but sometimes you can score such great deals on a Kindle. Many of the books are just .99 cents when they go on sale. I really like that aspect of ebooks, but will always choose paperbacks instead.

Thank you very much! It means a lot to hear that. :)
